BOOST YOUR
ENERGY | SUPPLENESS | BALANCE

I can support different exercise, nutritional and health issues when training people aged 65 plus.  Staying fit at this time of life is about maintaining your strength, keeping your joints moving, being able to reach and steady yourself if you lose your balance – these are all aspects of fitness you think you need to enjoy life.  But I can add even more benefits like reaction time, co-ordination, pelvic floor strength, breathing correctly and sharpening your memory.  Training these aspects of fitness can be fun.

By 2050, a quarter of the UK population will be aged over 65 – but the chief medical officer’s annual report argues that becoming unwell in old age is not “inevitable”, with traditional methods such as plenty of exercise and a balanced diet best to avoid disease.  He could have added that training can be fun as well.

POSTURE

Poor posture can affect your balance, bodyshape and strain your joints. Poor posture can be caused by deformities you were born with or as a result of an injury, surgery or illness, but more generally poor posture is worsened by the way you have lived and the things you do. The more you repeat those same behaviours the worse your posture can become.

Regular exercise does take commitment and perseverance, but improving your posture will help you feel well, look good and eliminate aches and pains. It can protect against injury or deformity, help your organs function properly and keep your muscles healthy.

BALANCE

Fear of falling is one scourge of everyday living and at exercise at 65+. The cycle of fear tends to grow. So you take shorter steps and swing your arms less. Over the years, standing and walking become more tentative. You can break this cycle with training and guidance.

POWER STRENGTH

Finding it hard to climb stairs, lift your shopping or stand up? Your legs and arms need more strength – in fact, they need power. Power is the extra effort you need to stand up from a chair or lift up a bag of shopping. We underestimate how much strength we need to carry out everyday chores, until we can’t do them so easily.

Make your life easier with 65+ power training.

SUPPLENESS

Can’t turn your head as far as you want? Can’t reach to the ground or to a top shelf? Regular mobility, stretching and balance training will increase your range and your confidence.

CARDIO

Your heart and lungs will not get stronger by sitting all day – they will by moving, moving a lot and moving fast. There are those who are already active enjoying walking and swimming if not cycling and running.  ActivAge Personal Training can tackle many issues to help you improve your training if you are already feel fit enough. The buzz word in the younger fitness community is HIIT (high intensity training) but it has many benefits for older adults. Check the science at https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8289951/. Walking, cycling and swimming are all great ways to improve the health of your heart, lungs, brain and manage your weight, but if you have mobility problems or a health condition you may think this type of exercise is out of your reach.  Your assessment will identify ways to train that suit you and any other activities you could include.

Dedicated one to one training will ensure you train to enable the way you live and progress from simple to advanced challenges.
