POSTURE

Poor posture can affect our balance, bodyshape and strain our joints. Poor posture can be caused by deformities we were born with or as a result of an illness, but more generally poor posture is caused by the way we live life and the things we do. The more we repeat those same behaviours the worse our posture can become.

Regular exercise does take commitment and perseverance, but exercising to improve your posture will help you feel well, look good and eliminate aches and pains. It can protect against injury or deformity, help your organs function properly and keep your muscles healthy.

BALANCE

Fear of falling is one scourge of older age. We tend to reduce the length of our stride and the range of our arm swing over the years, standing and walking becomes more tentative and we become more afraid. Current research points to different ways to training our balance including tai chi, yoga and dance but dedicated one to one training will ensure you train to enable the way you live and progress from simple to advanced challenges.

STRENGTH

Finding it hard to climb stairs, lift your shopping or stand up? Your legs and arms need strengthening. We underestimate how much strength we need to carry out everyday chores, until we can’t do them so easily.

Your heart and lungs will not get stronger by sitting all day – they will by moving and moving a lot. Walking, cycling and swimming are all great ways to improve the health of your heart, lungs, brain and manage your weight, but may be out of your reach. Your assessment will identify ways to train that suit you and any other activities you could include.
